This statement summarizes the core beliefs of Rogersville Baptist Temple. All scripture references are from the King James Bible. We believe:
The Old and New Testament scriptures are the perfect, verbally inspired Word of God and our only infallible authority.
There is one Triune God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—perfect, infinite and eternal.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Word and the only begotten Son of God, who became man by the virgin birth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the grave and ascended to Heaven.
The Holy Spirit convicts sinners, regenerates and indwells believers and empowers them to live holy lives.
All creation was made by God in six literal days; man is the direct creation of God and evolution is false.
All humanity is sinful by nature and by choice and unable to save itself.
Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone as a free gift of God.
Godly works are the evidence and fruit of salvation but not a means of salvation.
Satan is a real being, utterly depraved, whose power is limited and whose doom is certain.
Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to rapture His church and establish His millennial kingdom.
There will be a bodily resurrection and final judgment leading to eternal life or eternal punishment.
All believers have direct access to God through Christ and are responsible to study the Bible for themselves.
Jesus Christ is the sole Head of the church and all believers are members of His body.
The local church is a local assembly of baptized believers who unite to worship, fellowship, pray and carry out the Great Commission.
Each local church should be independent and self‑governing, cooperating with other churches as led by the Holy Spirit.
There are two ordinances: baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper as a memorial of Christ’s death.
